Your Android app development partner, built native when it counts

Android's biggest real-world challenge usually isn't the code, it's the hardware it has to run on: thousands of device and OS combinations, not one controlled ecosystem. Building native in Kotlin gives us the most direct route to handling that range properly when a project needs it.

Pictured: KickTown, our companion app for The O2's interactive football arena, syncing shot speed and accuracy live from players' wearable KickBands. That's real hardware to test against, not just an emulator.

What's included

The interesting engineering on a native Android build is often less about a single feature and more about making sure that feature holds up on the device someone actually owns, not just the newest flagship.

  • Native Kotlin & Jetpack Compose development
  • Device & OS fragmentation testing
  • Deep hardware & sensor integration
  • Google Play submission & optimisation
  • API & backend integration
  • Ongoing support & maintenance

Common questions

Why native Android instead of React Native?

Mostly the same reasons as iOS: deep hardware access or performance a cross-platform bridge can't quite deliver. Most product apps are still better served by React Native, which is what we'd suggest by default.

How do you handle the sheer range of Android devices out there?

By testing against a deliberately wide spread of screen sizes, OS versions and hardware rather than just the latest phone. It's the part of Android development that actually takes the discipline.

Do you build in Kotlin?

Yes, with Jetpack Compose for most new interface work.

Can you take over an existing Android app?

Yes. The first job is usually figuring out which devices and OS versions it's actually been tested against, since that gap is where most inherited Android apps fall down.

What happens after launch?

Google Play policy changes and new Android OS versions land often enough that ongoing support is part of the job here, not an add-on.
